FAQ

KNIFE REPAIR/SERVICE

We’ve streamlined our process for customers sending in knives for sharpening and service! You no longer need to print out a service form—everything we need will be captured in the order form using this link: https://brousblades.com/knife-repair-sharpening-service-order-form/

AUTHENTICITY VERIFICATION

There have been several attempts by (mainly) Chinese companies to replicate Brous Blades models. To find out if a knife you have or are wanting to buy is a true Brous Blade, please email us at brousblades@outlook.com with as many photos and details as you can. We typically can tell if it's authentic just through photos alone, and it is pretty rare that we would need you to send it in for further verification.

LAW ENFORCEMENT/MILITARY DISCOUNT

We no longer offer Law Enforcement and Mil Discounts.

CUSTOM POCKET CLIPS

We unfortunately do not offer different clips for any of our knife models, and Jason's books are currently closed to custom work so he cannot make a custom clip for your knife. If you are unhappy with a pocket clip's design or function, please let us know and we will take it into consideration for future pocket clip designs.

BLADE FINISHES

We often get customers asking about our various blade finishes we offer so here is a breakdown of the finishes we offer and how we achieve them.

SATIN:satin finish is achieved by sanding the blade with progressively finer grades of abrasive grit, creating a sleek and refined look. This finish enhances the blade’s shape while minimizing reflective glare. As the grit number increases, finer abrasives produce smoother lines and a cleaner finish.

STONEWASH: Stonewashing is a finishing process that offers a rugged, worn-in look. The blade is tumbled with small ceramic stones creating a unique texture that helps conceal scratches, defects, and everyday wear. This technique accelerates the natural aging process, removes sheen, and results in a more subdued, matte appearance.

BLACKOUT: Blackout is a Cerakote polymer-ceramic composite coating made from a blend of resin and hardener. This unique formula creates an exceptionally hard and durable finish, enhancing key functional properties such as abrasion resistance, corrosion protection, and impact strength. Cerakote is applied through a baking process, where coated blades are subjected to high heat to ensure a strong bond. This advanced coating provides superior protection against chemical exposure, extreme heat, and UV damage, making it an ideal choice for outdoor and high-performance applications.

ACID STONEWASH: BlackWash is a distinctive blade finish that combines black coating with a stonewash finish, resulting in a dark rugged, worn-in look. The process begins with spraying a black Cerakote on the blade, then it undergoes a stonewashing process, creating a distressed appearance similar to a well-used tool. This finish not only provides a vintage look but also helps conceal scratches and adds an extra layer of protection.

LOCKSTICK

We have developed a technique that is proven to work every time if done correctly. First, with the knife in the closed position, take a small cloth and clean off the blade tang. You want this part of the knife to be perfectly dry and clean of all debris before following the next steps. Once clean and dry, apply Sharpie (we recommend the Silver Metallic for Satin and Stonewash finishes) to the blade tang where the liner makes contact with the blade. Open the knife, then close it. Apply more Sharpie to the same area, then open and close the knife again. Continue this process at least 5-6 times or until the lock no longer sticks. For the final application, put a heavy amount of Sharpie on the blade tang and let it dry for 30 minutes. If you continue to have lock stick after trying this method, try following the same steps using a graphite pencil instead of a Sharpie.

PRE-ORDERS

When we release a new model for pre-order, we collect a $50 deposit upfront to reserve the knife of your choice. Once we are ready to ship the knives out, we will email a final payment link to everyone who placed a pre-order so they can pay the remainder of the amount due for their knife. Shipping information and the applicable charges will be collected during the final payment stage.

If you wish to cancel your pre-order, email us at brousblades@outlook.com and we will remove you from the pre-order and issue a merchandise credit for your future use. This credit will never expire and can be used towards any available service or product on our website.

If you wish to modify your pre-order (change handle color or blade finish, etc), please place a new pre-order for the knife you would rather reserve then email us at brousblades@outlook.com so we can issue a refund for your original order. This is the ONLY instance refunds will be issued.
